Supporting You To Be Tobacco-Free During Treatment & Beyond
iMD can be accessed online through your computer or a mobile device

Welcome to the Interactive Mobile Doctor (iMD) Project

The UCSF Radiation Oncology Department is testing two programs to learn how best to provide resources for patients who used tobacco within the past year to support their cancer recovery.

iMD stands for interactive Mobile Doctor, an educational tool that provides important videos to patients with cancer receiving radiotherapy.

Whether you are interested in quitting smoking during and after your radiation treatment or want to stay smoke-free, iMD will have resources to help you reach your goals. The iMD Project welcomes your participation!

What Will I Need To Do If I Participate?

  • Enter an email address or a phone number to start the program on an iPad
  • Answer questions and watch videos about tobacco use, interests about quitting or stay tobacco-free during and beyond radiotherapy
  • Each iMD session will be about 10-15 minutes in duration

Participation is Voluntary and Free

  • Participants will be eligible to receive up to $50 by completing a post-survey and providing an optional saliva sample for researchers to learn about iMD participants' tobacco use status 3 months after the program

How Can I Participate?

  • Talk to your clinical care team at the UCSF Radiation Oncology clinics at Mission Bay or Mt. Zion

The iMD Project is supported by the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program. UCSF IRB Approval Number 20-31466.
