Dr. Lisa Kroon is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy in the School of Pharmacy at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Kroon serves as the Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer of Clinical Innovation, Education and Research where she oversees ambulatory pharmacy practice and is part of the executive leadership team for the pharmacy enterprise. She practices at the UCSF Health Diabetes Teaching Center, where she cares for people with diabetes and chronic illnesses. She co-directs the UCSF Health Fontana Tobacco Treatment Center and has been a tobacco cessation specialist for over 20 years. Dr. Kroon received her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan and completed two years of residency at UCSF in pharmacy practice and hospital pharmacy administration. She has been a member of the UCSF faculty since 1996. A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Dr. Kroon was named a Fellow of the Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management of the American Pharmacists Association in 2016. In 2019, she was awarded the Pharmacist of the Year by the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP), the society’s most prestigious award. She is the past president of the Golden-Gate Society of Health-System Pharmacists and has held leadership roles in CSHP, CPhA and APhA. She is recognized for her contributions and advocacy work in advancing pharmacy practice in California and nationally. Her current research interests include evaluating the impact of pharmacist provider status and expanded scope of practice, diabetes therapeutics, tobacco cessation, and innovative practice models in the ambulatory and community pharmacy settings.
